Trump Urges Justice Department Probe of 'Resistance' Writer

The official said there were a number of US officials who were part of an "quiet resistance" inside the administration who was "working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations".

The New York Times published an anonymous op-ed Wednesday purportedly penned by a senior official within the administration.

Besides, the op-ed revealed that Trump's Cabinet originally speculated about invoking the 25th Amendment, which would start a complex process for removing the president, but they did not go with it because "no one wanted to precipitate a constitutional crisis".

The article's author claims numerous President's appointees are "thwarting Mr. Trump's more misguided impulses until he is out of office".

"He or she claims to be putting the country first, and that is the right goal", she writes.

Let's just hope this saga doesn't end like this.

In an interview Thursday with Fox News, Trump said the author "may not be a Republican, it may not be a conservative, it may be a deep state person who has been there for a long time".

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also denied writing it.

Staff actively worked to insulate themselves from Trump's "impetuous, adversarial, petty and ineffective" leadership style, the writer said.

Another tweet joked: 'What if Anonymous wrote that piece because he knows Trump can't say anonymous?' "We're going to take a look at what he had, what he gave, what he's talking about, also where he is right now". Another said the "Deep State and the Left, and their vehicle, the Fake News Media, are going insane - & they don't know what to do", pointing to the growing U.S. economy as an achievement.

"President Trump has laid out a bold and ambitious agenda".

CNN has published a letter that was allegedly stolen off of President Donald Trump's desk last September by former White House chief economic adviser Gary Cohn.

The FBI and Justice Department are responsible for investigating federal crimes, but there is no indication of anything illegal having been done in the publication of a newspaper opinion piece critical of the president.

I got a similar call amid all the calls demanding an answer: "Well, Sarah Sanders left your number so we could complain, but I support the New York Times".

Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats said in a statement: "Speculation that The New York Times op-ed was written by me or my principal deputy is patently false".
