Google will unveil its next Pixel smartphone on October 9 (GOOG, GOOGL)

The "Made by Google" event will take place at Spring Studios, New York at 11:00AM ET (8:30PM IST) and it would be live streamed on Google YouTube channel.

And, Google was expected to announce the third-gen Pixel smartphones - Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL - on the same date this year. But they would have dual cameras on the front with variable apertures for 'Super Selfies'.

Its Pixel 3 XL sibling however has a pretty substantial cutout on its forehead. As Android Police reports, it appears the company might be doing the same again this year, given that it's been on the hunt for Canadian influencers to switch to the Pixel 3 and appear in a video on October 4.

It is without doubt one of the leaks of the oddest seen in recent months.

The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are no longer a secret, but Google has actually not yet officially confirmed the smartphones.

In previous weeks, nearly everything about upcoming Google Pixel smartphones have been leaked online. The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL is expected to pack a 3,430mAh battery with a support for wireless charging. The Pixel 3 will come without a notch.

Rumours also indicate that Pixelbook 2 might make an appearance at the NY event. It will sport a glass and metal back body with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and front mounted speakers. But in the past, Google has launched many more products alongside the Pixel phones. In reality, October 4 was applied to the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.

Under the hood, the Pixel 3 XL will most likely run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC with storage options of 4GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB. However, the report should be taken with a pinch of salt. Google could also add a new design element with a mint-coloured button on the Pixel 3 XL.
