Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde wants Ousmane Dembele to stay after 'wonder goal'

The France worldwide has been heavily tipped to leave the Nou Camp for Arsenal or PSG after a hard debut season in Catalonia last term.

The video assistant referee (VAR) was used for the first time in Spanish soccer to award the goal, which had initially been ruled offside.

His comments confused everyone at the time, but after his screamer against Sevilla they're starting to make a lot more sense.

Gerard Pique, who announced his worldwide retirement with Spain on Saturday, levelled three minutes before the interval for Barcelona after he was fastest to respond to a loose ball following a Messi free-kick.

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez were unusually quiet at the Stade Ibn Batouta so it required a screamer from their 21-year-old teammate Dembele to win the game.

The LaLiga champions went behind, after Pablo Sarabia curled his effort past Marc-Andre ter Stegen in the 9th minute.

The drama continued throughout the match, with Sevilla having plenty of chances to find a second goal, but a missed penalty from substitute Wissam Ben Yedder in the 90th minute secured the win for Barca.

Arturo Vidal, Malcom, Arthur and Marlon are Barcelona's four non-EU players who have travelled to Morocco.

The Spanish football federation (RFEF) said on Saturday that there would be no restrictions on players from outside the European Union for the Supercup, despite only three being allowed in squads for league matches.

Playmaker Philippe Coutinho is a non-EU star, too, however, he has reportedly acquired a passport through his wife this summer.

Sevilla qualified for Sunday's match as last season's Copa del Rey runners-up, after Barcelona won the league and cup double.
