Steve Kerr Finalizing Extension With Golden State

The terms were confirmed by a person familiar with the situation who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal can not become official until the league's offseason moratorium ends this week.

After the season, Warriors general manager Bob Myers said Golden State would reward Durant with "whatever he wants".

Kerr, 52, just finished the fourth year of a five-year, $25 million contract he signed when he joined the Warriors in 2014.

Durant, the reigning two-time NBA Finals MVP, helped lead the Warriors to back-to-back championships in his two seasons with the franchise and had been public about his plan to re-sign.

Mavericks • Two people with knowledge of the deal said Dallas and DeAndre Jordan have agreed on a one-year contract at roughly the $24.1 million the center was set to make with the Clippers. Weeks ago Durant made clear that his re-signing with the Warriors was a certainty.

The first day of free agency feels like the holiday season for certain players and certain National Basketball Association teams. The 33-year-old had previously said he wanted to finish his career in OH, and although he's leaving again, Cavs fans are more forgiving after he ended the city's 52-year sport title drought in 2016. I'd love to have him for 10 years. He did us a great service.

It's a little odd that Durant would want a short-term deal, though. By signing a one-plus-one deal instead of two-year deal, the Warriors small forward was not eligible for a max salary. It's not to diminish the significance of that move for the Thunder, who took the risk in trading for George last summer when they knew he could be a one-year rental and should be applauded for creating a team and culture attractive enough to lure him back. He's earned that, to kind of lay out the terms. He can do whatever he wants. That shouldn't be a long negotiation. We'll get something done here pretty quick, and there won't be much fanfare.

Durant averaged 26.4 points per game to go along with 6.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists in the regular season.

Paul announced on Twitter that he has "Unfinished Business" in Houston, which took Golden State to seven games in the Western Conference final series. He was named to the All-NBA First Team for the sixth time in his career.

Kevin Durant agreed to a one-plus-one deal, first reported by Haynes, taking a discount of around $5.6 million next season, according to The Athletic's Danny Leroux.
