A winning start for Ishaan Khattar-Janhvi Kapoor's 'Dhadak'

Bollywood actor Ishaan Khattar and actress Jhanvi Kapoor's debut film Dhadak is going strong at the box office following favourable word of mouth and curiosity surrounding the daughter of Sridevi.

Opening with Rs 8.71 crore, it is the biggest opening at the box-office featuring debutants.

"#Dhadak witnesses SIGNIFICANT GROWTH on Day 2". Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh said that rarely does a film with absolute newcomers do so well. "We are delighted that ' Dhadak' has opened to a terrific Day 1 number", says Apoorva Mehta, CEO, Dharma Productions. Although the storyline of both the films remains somewhat the same - of two college students falling in love who are torn apart by differences in social status - the characters only draw inspiration from those in the original film. Parshu and Archi learn the hard way that you can run, but not hide, and lead us to one of the most wrenching climaxes in the movies.

Ishaan Khatter had given his thoughts about the film' script to indianexpress.com in an interview earlier. Speaking to The Indian Express, Khatter confirmed that his first Bollywood film is not an exact remake of Sairat, but just an honest adaptation of it. I watched it as an audience and was completely taken aback by the story. "I was confident about the film". It's a coming of age film for the character. "Plus, I was impressed by the arc of the character". Dhadak hits 2791 screens worldwide.
