Category 3 Hurricane Bud threatens Mexico, Southwest U.S.

Forecasters said Bud is heading toward cooler waters and is likely to fall below hurricane force by Wednesday night, and then approach the southern Baja as a tropical storm late Thursday.

The storm is expected to generate 3 to 6 inches of rain in southwestern Mexico, the centre said, warning of possible flash floods and mud slides. This media house does not correct any spelling or grammatical error within press releases and commentaries.

Two major category 5 hurricanes, Irma and Maria, ploughed through the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean and the USA west coast during 2017's extremely active Atlantic storm season, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.

The 2015 season began with Category 4 Hurricane Andres followed by Category 4 Hurricane Blanca, the record-earliest-in-season second eastern Pacific hurricane and major hurricane, which later became the record-earliest Baja California landfall, as a tropical storm. By the time Bud hits land in Mexico it is forecast to have weakened to below hurricane speeds.

NHC's seventh advisory was issued at 8 a.m. EDT (1200 UTC). Risky ocean swells and rip currents may commence Tuesday.

Bud's center is now just over 300 miles south-southeast of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, moving northwestward.

And Bud will probably not be the last hurricane of the season, with AccuWeather meteorologists anticipating the East Pacific basin remaining active as an above-normal number of tropical cyclones remain in the forecast.

At 1300 GMT, Bud was 380 kilometers (235 miles), southwest of Manzanillo, packing sustained winds of 185 kilometers (115 miles) an hour, Mexico's national weather service said.
