In his final attempt and with three minutes to spare, Romero looking worn out and gaunt, came in at 185.2 pounds - becoming the first fighter in UFC history to miss weight in multiple title fights. Or really punish him for missing weight by pushing him down the line of contenders.

"I needed two hours, and the commission would only give me one", Romero said in response to the criticism, per MMA Junkie's Steven Marrocco.

The UFC did not announce whether the fight would continue, but the two fighters were introduced and faced off at the ceremonial weigh-ins later on Friday.

There is no word from the UFC if the fight will proceed and how the purses will be divided. That's what we want.

It's the second consecutive bout for which Romero (13-2) has missed weight. "I don't know what they're going to do".

Romero earned a third-round KO victory as a plus-150 underdog, but was deemed ineligible to claim the belt after failing to make weight.

Romero also failed to meet the 185-pound requirement in February for an interim middleweight title fight against Luke Rockhold at UFC 221. Romero won that bout via a knockout, and although he wasn't awarded a belt, he immediately was given a title shot despite his weight cutting issues.

UFC President Dana White talked to the media after the UFC 225 Weigh-in at the United Center in Chicago on Friday, addressing a litany of UFC hot topics. Sound off in the comment section below.
