Local news provider KFVS reported that Scott County Coroner Scott Amick said a "health condition" had been responsible for Neal's death, while TMZ notes that he had an existing condition "related to his heart".

He added: "Neal was in heart failure, kidney failure and had liver disease".

Boyd won Season 3 of "America's Got Talent", earning the favor of judges David Hasselhoff, Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne with performances of "Somewhere" from "West Side Story" and "Nessun Dorma".

Boyd was set to release his third album in 2019 inspired by a tragic auto accident in 2017 that left him and his mother severely injured.

My American Dream reached No. 3 in the Top Classical Albums Chart, although it debuted at No. 195 on the Billboard 200 in its first week.

Boyd was found unresponsive by his mother at her Sikestown, Mo., home and was pronounced dead at 6:26 p.m. "We have to be able to get me back up on my feet again, because I'm still walking with a walker".

Known as "The Voice of Missouri", Neal's hometown has now marked October 2008 as "Neal E. Boyd month". "I shattered a lot of bones, and shattered my hip, which has left me nearly unable to use that leg for now", he said.

The AGT victor also dabbled into politics, unsuccessfully running for an open seat in the Missouri House of Representatives in 2011.

"Just be grateful that you survived", he continued.
