Harry and Meghan pick an Ascot Landau for their royal wedding carriage

"The carriages are used in official and ceremonial state events, such as Coronations, Royal Weddings and State Visits", the Palace said in another Twitter post. The carriage will be escorted by a traveling escort of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment.

"There will be one horse-drawn carriage in the Carriage Procession from St George's Chapel, which will take the newly-married couple through Windsor Town returning to Windsor Castle along the Long Walk".

The carriage and horses are housed at the Royal Mews, the stables at Buckingham Palace, where they require regular polishing and maintenance by Royal Mews staff.

Of course, there is a backup plan in pace should the weather not cooperate on May 19. While the custom of British royals not wearing wedding bands is common in the United Kingdom, it's less known in the US, so Harry's American bride could have had a say in his decision.

The carriage the pair will ride in was built in 1883. "It was a wonderful chance for them to greet the public", says a former courtier.

Bitter Thomas Markle Jr has warned Prince Harry, 33, to ditch the May 19 wedding with the Suits actress.

The Aussie horse-lover will ride a Windsor Grey called Milford Haven on the momentous occasion - and the horse is known for his demure behaviour. The prince will Wednesday a non-royal-a divorced, biracial, American actress, at that-in a ceremony and reception that will be far smaller and more intimate than Prince William and Kate Middleton's 2011 nuptials.

And it is likely media organisations are in discussions with police for an exemption to allow them to report on the big day from a helicopter.

Sharing a sweet photo of her sat on the step ahead of nursery, taken by Catherine herself, Kensington Palace wrote: "Wishing a happy third birthday to Princess Charlotte - thank you all for your lovely messages!"
