Dog Saves Canine Buddy From Drowning In Pool

It was during that time, while Jay Becerra was elsewhere in the house, that Smokey, who is less experienced of a swimmer than Remus, fell into the pool.

He was caught on camera saving his best friend's life when he fell into their family's swimming pool but was unable to get out again.

Laurie Sorsen Becerra, from Sow Low, Ariz., told KSAT her husband Jay found their dog Smokey sopping wet on May 1 and wanted to see what happened.

Laurie and Jay Becerra had left Smokey and Remus home alone but their CCTV captured the drama at their home in Mesa, Arizona.

Distressed Remus then jumps into the pool and swims behind his friend, using his head to push Smokey out of the water.

"So Remus and Smokey received slightly rambunctious".

The footage showed Smokey having difficulty getting back out of the pool, with Remus on the side looking as if he was trying to direct him how to get up.

She added the dogs often play near the pool without incident.

When he pulled surveillance video of the pool, Smokey's owners realized their dog had a brush with danger - but luckily, Smokey had a friend to help him out. "He said that the dog is a real certified lifeguard".
