Police say woman tried to burn vehicle with her children inside it

Houston police say a mother tried to burn her three children alive at a vehicle wash on Sunday night.

A Texas mother is accused of telling their three young children that they're "going to see Jesus" before setting their auto on fire.

According to officials, the woman revved the car's engine continuously until the fire ignited.

Police said witnesses intervened, prompting the woman to flee on foot with the three young girls. Witnesses told investigators that at one point she said, "We're going to see Jesus". Her children are now with relatives.

Police said Segovia abandoned two of her daughters - ages 11 and 13 - but dragged her 9-year-old daughter towards a nearby bayou, CBS affiliate KHOU reports. She then tripped and fell over. She was eventually captured and taken into custody by Harris County deputies.

The woman, identified as 31-year-old Ana Segovia, faces three counts of aggravated assault of a family member and will undergo a mental-health evaluation.

Houston Fire Department Arson Division is investigating the incident.
