Of course, the trade begs the questions: Who will be quarterback Tom Brady's No. 1 receiver without Cooks and the recently departed Danny Amendola?

After winning the NFC West last season, the Los Angeles Rams have made multiple big moves this offseason.

The trade is somewhat of a surprise move for New England considering the chemistry he quickly developed with Brady. Here's everything we think we can think about the deal.

For their speed receiver, Snead and McVay will turn to another class of 2014 wideout in Cooks, a former Stockton prep standout who ran 4.33 coming out of Oregon State. The talent man of the Los Angeles Ram is unafraid to make a deal and cooked one up this week with Belichick.

The #BrandinCooksSmearCampaign has already begun...

The Bills still have a stronger collection of draft picks to work with, but the Patriots aren't far behind.

Cooks, 24, was acquired last spring from New Orleans for the 32nd overall pick in last year's draft. In addition, they now have two first-round picks in the same draft for the third time under Belichick.

The Patriots now have two 1st Round picks (23 and 31) and two 2nd Round picks (43 and 63). This offseason, team owner Robert Kraft said that the Patriots need to look for a quarterback in the draft, and with Brady turning 41 in August, they may need to put that plan into action. "They got to a certain number and that number wasn't going to get it done". If trading away their first round pick this season and having few in the early rounds is ultimately too high a price to pay, then is this setting up for an uncertain future beyond 2018 AND 2019? But just how they use their newly improved draft-choice assets will be interesting to see. But moving on from Cooks certainly can't cause as much trouble with No. 12 as it would if they jettisoned, say, Rob Gronkowski or Julian Edelman.

Los Angeles was reportedly interested in acquiring Beckham even though the Giants were never officially shopping him.

In an offseason full of them, we've got another National Football League trade.

It's impossible to escape the speculation that the Cooks trade is potentially a precursor to a trade for Beckham. For now, they don't have that insurance heading into the 2018 season. The Patriots still have Edelman, Chris Hogan and Malcolm Mitchell as their top three receivers, with Kenny Britt, Cordarrelle Patterson and Phillip Dorsett providing depth.

Cooks was one of Tom Brady's primary weapons this past season, serving as the vertical threat in New England's offence.
