F-16 crashes at US Air Force base in Nevada

Four pilots were killed when their planes went down at Thunderbird Lake.

Wednesday's Thunderbird crash was the fourth incident involving United States military aircraft in approximately 24 hours. According to the statement, emergency personnel responded to the scene after the crash happened about 10:30 a.m.

There have been nine "class A" mishaps involving the F-16 since the start of fiscal year 2016.

The Thunderbirds formed in 1953 as the Air Demonstration Unite at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. The pilot ejected and was medically evaluated.

In June 2017, the Thunderbirds pulled out of a scheduled air show after one of their jets crashed during training leading up to the two-day Dayton Air Show in Ohio.

The accident prompted the Thunderbirds to cancel this weekend's show at march air reserve base in Southern California. The Valencia, Calif., resident was in his first season with the team.

The F-16 is a single seat plane.

This marks the third crash this week by a USA military aircraft. It is also the fifth fatality.

"The status of all four is presumed dead pending positive identification", the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing said. The pilot managed to escape to safety using a parachute.

The Harrier was assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 162 and embarked upon the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima. It was taking part in the Alligator Dagger exercise, which started this week.

The aircraft "sustained minor structural damage pending further assessment", U.S. Naval Forces Central Command spokesman Cmdr. These are the risks the servicemen and servicewomen take on a daily basis.

CH-53E helicopter, similar to those that crashed in the USA and Djibouti last Tuesday. As soon as additional details become available, they will be provided.
