Not again! Snow warning for Lincoln on Easter Monday

Possibility of heavy snow over parts of England, Wales and southern Scotland.

It is also possible a few centimeters of wet snow could gather at lower levels.

"At present, the extent and amounts of any snow are very uncertain and it is quite possible snow might not be too disruptive".

The weather warning for Easter Monday will come into play shortly after midnight and remain in place for much of the day. Any showers will fall as rain in England, but these should ease in the south during the afternoon. It looks most likely to stay drier across the far north.

Snow will hit Scotland tonight as temperatures plummet and the traditional travel chaos begins - with motorists hoping to get away before the dismal -5C weather sets in. The wind-chill factor also expected to make things feel bitterly cold.

It was only at the end of March 2013, when Easter fell on the same weekend, that we last saw a white blanket cover the area.

Forecasters at the Met Office have said the bank holiday weekend will often be on the cold side, with showers and long spells of rain at times.

High temperatures will reach about 50 degrees.

Sunshine will return on Saturday but it will be back to below normal temperatures in the 50s.

The east coast of the U.S. celebrated its first day of spring blanketed in several inches of snow from North Carolina to New England, from its fourth "nor'easter" storm in three weeks.

Widespread overnight frost, but cold northeast winds easing on Sunday.

Sunday: Chilly. Small risk for a snow shower early.

Highs should be in the low 40s Monday through next Thursday.
