A quick call to the Capital Grille in Indianapolis - where the manager initially didn't believe that the Miami Heat, travel party of 51, were on the way - set up dinner for everyone, and hotel rooms were secured while everyone dined.

Ironically, Jordan's 866-game streak began in 1986 after a night when he tallied eight points in a loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The victory snapped a two-game skid for the Timberwolves, who are chasing their first playoff berth since 2004 and who moved up to seventh in the Western Conference with the win and Utah's 97-94 loss to the Boston Celtics that dropped the Jazz into the eighth and final playoff spot. James says he's been at his best anyway. "We talk about what we do against everybody else".

James congratulated an emotional Walker at midcourt and praised him after the game.

"I've said it. Obviously, I've had some unbelievable seasons before, but I've said it: This is the best I can go, just from a complete basketball player standpoint", he said. Kelly Olynyk finished with a game-high 19 points as five Heat players scored in double figures.

Cleveland's lineup has been in constant flux this season because of injuries.

Kevin Love was placed in the NBA's concussion protocol and will miss tonight's game against the Charlotte Hornets, the team announced.

"It's pretty incredible. It's pretty incredible", James said of the recognition. "We have a great rotation thing down the last few games and for a guy to go down that early it kind of messed that up".

Consider where the Cavaliers would be without him this season (they now have a very tenuous hold on the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference).

Fittingly, the four-time MVP did it in the presence of Jordan as he torched the team he owns for 41 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists.

Cavaliers associate head coach Larry Drew said before the game that it is a "phenomenal accomplishment", but added "there will be more records down the road that he will be breaking. if he continues to produce the numbers that he has been producing".

Charlotte got off to a good start, leading 26-22 after the first quarter.

The last time James failed to do was on January 5, 2007 when he only managed eight points against the Milwaukee Bucks. But Miami was still up 75-59 going into the fourth, after Wade - moments after checking in for the first time in about an hour of real time - connected on a step-back jumper with 17 seconds left in the third.

James has excelled during perhaps the most challenging season of his career as the Cavs have been ravaged by injuries and overhauled with three major trades at the deadline.
