Still, it points to the biceps on director Ryan Coogler's action flick, which premiered February 16. and is still showing in almost 4,000 theaters.

Marvel's Black Panther has become even more of a box office giant than any of the industry's wildest predictions and expectations.

Although the weekend is not over just yet, it appears that Marvel's Black Panther has become the highest-grossing superhero flick of all time in the US, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Additionally, The Last Jedi did $619,896,809, which means that Black Panther has now already passed the Star Wars movie with its sights set on the Avengers, which it will easily take down by Sunday.

On Saturday (March 24), the movie will pass The Avengers to be not only the top superhero movie ever, but also the fifth highest-grossing movie of all time domestically. The Marvel movie was able to pull off 5 straight weeks at the number one spot, a feat that hadn't happened since the 2009 release of James Cameron's Avatar.

The latest Marvel solo movie just keeps racking up those box office records. Black Panther will finish the weekend at the domestic box office with roughly $630 million. While Titanic's total includes re-releases, it's worth noting that all the aforementioned totals are unadjusted for ticket price inflation, as is standard procedure for calculating box office records.

DJ Khaled's "All I Do Is Win" might as well be the theme music for Black Panther's box office journey. In terms of the MCU (Marvel Comics Unverse), Black Panther is the third-biggest comic book adaptation behind The Avengers with $1.5 billion and Avengers: Age of Ultron with $1.4 billion.

And with a $1.2 billion worldwide gross, the movie is inching closer to the top 10 all-time (currently sitting in 14th place just behind "Iron Man 3" with $1.214 billion).
