American Idol 2018 Premiere Recap: Watch Audition Videos & Highlights

The teen, whose audition aired first on the episode, received a standing ovation from judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan.

"I'm amazed by the falsetto to the point of just wanting to remove myself from the room for a minute", Lionel gushed.

When Alyssa Raghu auditioned on the premiere, each of the judges were blown away.

"She's using the show as eHarmony", joked Bryan. All three are sent to Hollywood.

After a montage of young singers, we focus on Andrew Weaver, a 16-year-old from Bremen, Georgia, who auditions with Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud". Katy and Treavor did some major flirting, but alas, he has a girlfriend. and a golden ticket. William Casanova, 26, is the next artist to audition, and he sings "A Song For You" for the judges. He got three yes votes.

From Venezuela is Michelle Sussett, a 22-year-old waitress from Miami, Florida. She sings Rihanna's "Love on the Brain" and the judges are mesmerized by the voice coming out of this kid.

Francisco moved the entire panel to tears, with Perry visibly overcome with emotion, so much so that she lost her voice.

American Idol auditions continued Monday night, and one contestant had the judges on their feet. Ukrainian singer-songwriter-rapper Misha Gontar. Diaz sailed through to Hollywood.

Katy later added, "He's the best male singer we've seen so far and I think he's Top 10". No one really cares about his performance, it's not Top 10 material just yet, but it is enough to leave Katy hot and bothered, so Trevor is moving on to Hollywood.

In New Orleans, the judges are going to hear 17-year-old Laine Hardy from Livingston, Louisiana and sings "Hurricane". I'm into this whole thing. Dropping her body low to the ground, she struggled to pop herself back up and slid onto the floor, appearing to expose her underwear (which was censored out by show producers), to the shock and horror of Bryan and Richie. Jones was thrilled to get a golden ticket. After he sang "Don't You Worry Child" by Swedish House Mafia, all three judges gave him a return trip to Hollywood, and Lionel hugged him.
