Local Conservation officials say the rain, in combination with melting snow is expected to increase water levels, and the possibility of ice jams. Freezing rain will change to rain early this afternoon. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays. Utility outages may occur.

Temperatures are climbing about 0 today as rain moves into the region. Environment Canada is advising of a rainfall warning for Chatham-Kent, Rondeau Park, Windsor, Leamington, and Essex County. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.

Environment Canada has continued its Special Weather Statement for Halton as significant rainfall is expected to continue Tuesday and Wednesday. The rain will continue in the day before it goes away in the evening.

Global News meteorologist Ross Hull said in addition to the rainfall, double-digit temperatures are expected before the cold returns.

Heavy rain and mild weather are causing localized flooding and road closures around Toronto. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.

Rainfall warnings were also issued for parts of central Ontario.
