Trump moves back his 'Fake News Awards,' citing high interest

Not content to let Stephen Colbert and his Late Show contingent have a higher profile heading into the Dishonest Media Award season, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah joined in the "For your consideration" festivities today by launching their own print campaign to curry President Trump's favor come trophy time.

As you can see in the tweet above, the president is citing interest that "is far greater than anyone could have anticipated" as a possible reason for the date change.

The 71-year-old said he would be handing out his "dishonest media" awards in various "fake media" categories, ranging from "dishonest" to "bad reporting".

But will the stories that are recognized be "fake" or just unfavorable to the White House? "Stay tuned!" he said.

On 3 January Mr Trump said he would be announcing "THE MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA AWARDS OF THE YEAR" on Monday 8 January at 5.00pm.

Trump has fired back against author Michael Wolff and Bannon, calling Wolff a "total loser", and referring to Bannon as "Sloppy Steve".

Stephen Colbert also got in on the act, purchasing a billboard in Times Square to make sure he would not get snubbed.

"Daily Show" host Trevor Noah followed suit by posting a "for your consideration" ad on Twitter that included multiple quotes about him from conservative media outlets, including "Political propaganda disguised as entertainment", "Trevor Noah is an anti-Trump hack", and "Monotonous... liberal dogma". "So that was Donald Trump's day on Twitter".
