Porn star who claimed encounter with Trump 'was paid hush money'

The Wall Street Journal has reported that Donald Trump's lawyer gave a hefty pay-off to an ex-adult film star a month before the election, in order to keep her quiet about an alleged sexual encounter with the now-president around a decade ago.

A Wall Street Journal exposé was published on January 12, alleging that the president had an affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2006, one year after marrying wife Melania Trump.

The future president was already married to his third wife, Melania Trump, the current first lady of the United States, at the time of the reported rendezvous.

Ms Clifford's attorney, Keith Davidson, also represents Karen McDougal, a one-time Playboy model who reportedly received $150,000 from the National Enquirer for the rights to her own story about an alleged 2006 sexual encounter with Mr Trump.

Leading up to the 2016 presidential election, Clifford was in talks with several news publications about a story involving her relationship with Trump. "Stormy Daniels" is the stage name adopted by Clifford. The Daily Beast reported Friday that Daniels also had a tentative interview set up with them, but she backed out just days before the 2016 election. "When I met Donald Trump, he was gracious, professional and a complete GENTLEMAN to me and everyone in my presence", the statement says. Cohen said he discussed the project with Trump three times.

"And I was like, 'OMG it's Donald Trump!'". However, Trump and Clifford both deny the allegations. Clifford did not immediately respond to a request for comment. She has accused Trump of forcibly kissing her and two other women in a hotel suite. They declined to answer any further questions about any agreements or payments involving Daniels or whether Trump had any awareness of the settlement.

According to Evans, who was also in Stateline, Nevada while Trump and Daniels were there for the 2006 American Century Celebrity Golf Championship, her colleague told her all about meeting the star of The Apprentice.
