Manchester United's Young charged with violent conduct

Manchester United full-back Ashley Young has been charged with violent conduct, the Football Association (FA) confirmed on Sunday afternoon.

Young appeared to elbow the Southampton's Dusan Tadic in the stomach as they jostled at a corner during the second half of the 0-0 draw at Old Trafford on Saturday.

That leaves Mourinho without a host of first-teamers, including Romelu Lukaku, who was carried off on a stretcher following a clash of heads with Wesley Hoedt, the Southampton centre back.

The incident was not spotted by referee Craig Pawson.

Young was charged with violent conduct stemming from an incident in Saturday's 0-0 draw with Southampton, SkySports reports.

Swansea City defender Kyle Naughton has also been banned for three matches - for stamping on Watford's Stefano Okaka.

"Young will miss the New Year's Day trip to Everton, the Emirates FA Cup tie at home to Derby County on Friday and the Premier League visit of Stoke City on 15 January".

Manchester United were forced to split the points after finishing in a scoreless deadlock with Southampton.
