Flu-Related Deaths Reported In Tarrant County

In the first week of January, there were 1,750 new confirmed flu-associated hospitalizations in OH compared to 925 the week before.

Flu season begins in October, and typically peaks between December and February.

Each Friday, the Kane County Health Department releases statistics providing an overview of influenza within the county.

"Getting a flu vaccine is the best way to protect you, family members, and others from the flu and help keep our community healthy", said Cumberland County Health Director Mindy Doyle.

Jill Baber, influenza surveillance coordinator with the Division of Disease Control with the state, said eight cases have resulted in death, and two of those were in the state's northeast quadrant.

"Flu is hard to predict", said ODH Medical Director Dr. Clint Koenig.

The season could be as severe as the one in 2014-15, officials say, which was the most severe flu season in years. "You can still get the flu, no vaccine is flawless".

Schneider said the rise in positive flu cases could be attributed to better reporting on the physicians' part.

"According to the latest data, the now circulating viruses in Hong Kong, including the influenza B and influenza A H1 and H3 viruses, were antigenically similar to the components of the northern hemisphere influenza vaccine adopted in the 2017-18 Government Vaccination Programme and Vaccination Subsidy Scheme", the spokesman said.

If you have the flu, Tylenol, Ibuprofen and Tamiflu are useful...along with getting plenty of liquids and rest.

"The virus we're giving them is dead, it's virtually impossible to get the flu from a vaccine", de Lota said. "If you are sick, please stay home to prevent further spread of the virus". They should promptly seek medical advice if influenza-like symptoms develop so that appropriate treatment can be initiated as early as possible to prevent potential complications.

Adult flu deaths are not reported to local health departments by Texas law. "But even if it isn't the exact strain, or a hundred-percent match, which it really can't be, it still provides some coverage, and if people do get the flu, if they've gotten the flu shot, it usually is not as severe or as long". It also reported that outpatient visits to doctors with influenzalike symptoms were above normal in every region of the country. They are most effective if they are taken within the first two days of contracting the illness.

The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat and sometimes the lungs.
