Rajinikanth to announce decision on political entry: Blockbuster debut on Dec 31?

"I'm not saying I will come to politics".

Amidst the feverish pitch for Superstar Rajinikanth to join politics, the actor today kicked off his six-day long fan meet at the Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam in Kodambakkam in Chennai.

Addressing his legion of fans, Rajinikanth said he was not new to politics but stressed that he was hesitant to take the plunge as he knows the dynamics. We should win the battle when we go to war.

In a short but focused speech, amidst rousing applause and cheers from the fans who were gathered, Rajinikanth said, "There is much speculation on whether I will join politics".

Speaking in the meet, Rajinikanth said "I am not new to politics".

The 67-year-old actor will meet some 1,000 fans across 18 districts.

"I was humbled when Jayalalithaa met me at my house", Rajnikanth said.

In yet another attempt on keeping the suspense alive over his anticipated entry into politics, superstar Rajinikanth on Tuesday announced that he would make his decision clear on December 31.

Earlier this week, Jayalalithaa's party, the ruling AIADMK, failed to retain her RK Nagar seat and lost it to sidelined rebel TTV Dhinakaran, the nephew of Jayalalithaa's long-time aide VK Sasikala.

Rajinikanth, who enjoys a demigod-like status in the state has only added fuel to the ongoing political tussle in the state which has witnessed turbulence ever since the demise of former Chief Minister J Jayalalitha. "Strategy is required to win", he said.

Referring to his "war" remark, the actor asked, "war means only election".

With actors such as Kamal Haasan and Vishal taking the political plunge this year, rumours of the "Superstar" entering politics have only gone louder. "Have the elections come already?" he said. "Rajinikanth is a respected celebrity and he will definitely work for the development of the state and nation".
