North Korean Academy Issues White Paper Saying Country Defended Human Rights

The European Union (EU) on Saturday issued a statement coinciding with the worldwide Human Rights Day saying the Rohingya crisis refers to the vulnerability of human rights even after 70 years of signing of a Universal Declaration for its protection. "The Congress, and the world, must recognize that those who are denied basic human rights, such as the freedoms of speech, religion and political expression, are also denied basic human respect and dignity".

We talk about human rights as every individual has rights.

International Day for Human Rights is celebrated every year on December 10. According to a report by the Japan Times, the resolution said: "The human rights situation in the DPRK continues to be of great concern".

As people observed the International Human Rights Day on Sunday, several scholars, writers, artists, filmmakers and social activists came together under the banner of Pakistan-India People's Forum for Peace and Democracy calling on the two nuclear nations to resume meaningful dialogue, abandoning the confrontational tactics being followed. "We must organize, mobilise in defence of human decency, in defence of a better common future".

Against a backdrop of police-involved shootings, sexual harassment cases, immigrant arrests, threats to LGBT gains and a surge in hate crimes since the 2016 USA presidential election, a heated debate rages over individual rights in the United States.

The advancement of human and people's rights is a core priority of the African Union.

In India, National Human Rights Commission also observes the day on 10th December.

Like other countries, human rights are being violated in Pakistan as well. Whether it's about employment, family or something else, human rights ensure we are fairly treated and not undermined by the state.

"It is crucial for stability, economic growth and development that Bangladesh promotes and protects the human rights of all, regardless of ethnicity, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious or political affiliation, disability or socio-economic background", said the EU.

According to a report by KCNA Watch, the state news agency of North Korea, the white paper did not only praise North Korea for upholding human rights but also talked about nations that "violated them", referring to Western countries like the US and the United Kingdom. Exercising this right significantly allows each of us to have our say every five years, on who governs us. Kiribati celebrates the day on December 11.
