While the series is one of Netflix's flagship productions, Sarandos also explained that it was important for the the show to continue so the some-2000 Baltimore-area workers and artisans who make House Of Cards happen could return to their jobs.

A month after series former-star Kevin Spacey was sacked comes word on what House of Cards fans can expect next: the sixth and final season will premiere on Netflix in 2018.

Spacey was sacked after allegations of sexual misconduct on the set of the show and off. Last week, MRC announced that the hiatus would continue until December 8 amid an ongoing investigation into the Spacey allegations. The final season will not include Spacey, as previously announced.

The series ended season five with Wright's Claire Underwood as president and unwilling to pardon her husband as originally planned. The political thriller will conclude with eight episodes. Netflix said it would not move forward with Spacey.

"Netflix's version of House of Cards, which Spacey helped develop as an executive producer, was the first big original series hit for the streaming service after its 2013 debut", Eric notes. "It will star Robin Wright". I had even started talking to camera, something that had only been done before by Frank Underwood. "We're really excited about bringing some closure to the show for fans", Sarandos said.

"These last two months have tested and tried all of us in ways none of us could have foreseen".

Spacey's rep has said he is seeking unspecified treatment.

Following Rapp's allegation, Spacey said in a post on Twitter he does not remember the alleged incident.

All of Spacey's scenes were also erased from the upcoming film All the Money in the World, in light of the allegations made against Spacey.
