Trump to Pardon Turkeys in White House Traditional Ceremony

President Trump has threatened no shortage of Obama-era policies and decisions, with last year's pardoning of Tater and Tot proving to be no exception.

Drumstick and Wishbone will live in "Gobbler's Rest" at Virginia Tech, which the president described as "a handsome place".

Trump's first turkey pardoning is in keeping with a White House tradition of almost three decades. Let's just say Trump's hair got a little ruffled. Tater and Tot, who Obama ceremoniously dubbed TOTUSes during their pardoning past year, also still live at the Virginia university in its "Gobblers Rest" exhibit - a custom built enclosure for the birds.

While all of this is super cool for Minnesota turkey farmers and the state in general, I think this might be a little ridiculous. However, I have been informed by the White House councils office that Tater and Tot pardons can not under any circumstances be revoked'. Formal pardons began with President George H.W. Bush in 1989.

"So Tater and Tot, you can rest easy", the President said.

Trump thanked the military and law enforcement prior to the pardon.

This was President Trump's last event before heading to Mar-a-Lago for the holiday.

A single lucky bird is spared the slaughterhouse and instead lives out the rest of its days in "Gobbler's Rest", a retirement home packed full with whatever it is that elderly turkeys require on a day-to-day basis.
