Farewell to Nehra; India beat New Zealand in 1st T20I

Indian team amassed massive runs as the openers both Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan bagged some back-to-back bullet shots all the way. I must be one bowler who bowled the most number of last overs for India, but it was different sort of pressure and today was much more comfortable. The first T20 global is Nehra's final worldwide match of a career that started way back in 1999. I played my first game here in 1997. This is an awesome team and Indian cricket is in good hands for next 7-8 years.

Nehra made his debut in 1999 and when queried what has changed in cricket and within the team in the last 18 years, Nehra said there have been big changes in terms of rules but maintained that this India side is here to stay. After the match, which India won by 53 runs, Nehra received a grand farewell not only from his teammates but cricketers worldwide.

Kohli and MS Dhoni struck four maximums between them in their brief cameos and the bowling attack continued the demolition job after the interval. Pakistan needed about 9 or 10 of the last over and there was a bit of confusion at the ground as to who is going to bowl the last over and Nehra standing at fine-leg at that point of time runs in to Sourav and he says, 'Dada (Sourav), mein dalta hoon, aap daro mat.

"The game has changed a lot since I started playing". I said earlier that I can go a couple more years, but there can't be a better time to walk away. "I was telling Viru (Virender Sehwag) also this; he scored so many runs, but people still call him Multan ka Sultan, so you are remembered for a particular moment", he said.

Nehra played a stellar role for India eight years later in the 2011 World Cup semi-final, picking up 2/33 against Pakistan.
