The prospect at the heart of Louisville's latest men's basketball scandal will never participate in a game for the Cardinals.

"Brian has been a responsible young man for the institution since he enrolled", Tyra said in the statement.

Also on Wednesday, the school announced freshman Brian Bowen will not play for Louisville.

Bowen has been granted written permission to transfer, but if he wants to remain at Louisville, he will be allowed to stay on an academic scholarship.

Bowen, a freshman, was at the center of the basketball corruption scandal involving Adidas and Louisville, in which the Federal Bureau of Investigation became involved.

If the NCAA corroborates the FBI's findings, it's unlikely Bowen will ever be cleared to play college basketball at Louisville or anywhere else.

Along with the possibility of transferring, Bowen could choose to pursue professional opportunities. I saw him against another great player from Indiana.

Assistant basketball coach Kenny Johnson was sacked Wednesday by the school, joining former head coach Rick Pitino, assistant coach Jordan Fair and athletic director Tom Jurich on the unemployment line amid the FBI's explosive investigation into the crooked college basketball culture.

Louisville has already fired head coach Rick Pitino and athletic director Tom Jurich in the wake of the scandal involving Bowen. We spent zero dollars recruiting a five-star athlete who I loved when I saw him play. Johnson was also not named in the investigation, but was initially put on leave October 6.
