Amazon Studio boss Roy Price resigns following allegations of sexual harassment

Roy Price, who until recently was head of Amazon Studios, quit his very good job on Tuesday a mere five days after more detailed allegations that he'd sexually harassed a co-worker were publicized, according to an Amazon spokesperson who spoke about the matter to CNN.

Although she reported it to the studio, an investigation commenced, but she was never notified of the outcome.

Amazon has not said how long Price's suspension will last. He also told employees: "I'd like to emphasise that, at any time, if you have any concerns related to harassment or abuse at Amazon, please immediately report the incident to your manager, your HR business partner, the legal department or the Amazon ethics hotline".

The allegations against Price first broke in August, when the investigative news site The Information published a story about Amazon's investigation into Hackett's claim. Her husband and Pitch Perfect co-star, Skylar Astin, added, "Seems like the only retribution I could think of would be to give these women their voices back".

Price also faces allegations of simple poor taste. Last year, the studio also had to defend its expensive deal with Woody Allen, whose six-episode series Crisis in Six Scenes landed with a thud.

Just before the Primetime Emmy Awards, where Amazon was left empty-handed while SVOD rivals Hulu and Netflix picked up trophies, Amazon Studios got new directives from Seattle to overhaul its programming strategy, pulling away from niche shows to focus on big broad (largely genre) hits of the size of HBO's Game Of Thrones. Among them: Goliath creator David E. Kelley, who described Price's entertainment division as "a bit of a gong show" in a scathing Wall Street Journal piece about the company's latest struggles in Hollywood. In a script draft obtained by the magazine, the series "follows a young woman named Cindy who is sold into sex slavery". The series would have included a Price-like character named Richard Forman, who has a younger girlfriend: a writer from NY named "Lita".

Later at a party, Price reportedly went up to Hackett and loudly proclaimed, 'Anal sex!'

Price's fiancée, Lila Feinberg, called off their November wedding on Sunday.
