OR defense gets late stop on interception in win over Nebraska

As for the Ducks, this is the first year that Willie Taggart is in charge. OR is no stranger to sporting a seemingly infinite number of uniform combinations, the team's latest has a unique, and inspiring, origin story.

"The quarterback broke in a year ago", Riley said. "I've spent a lot of time, and had too many hard times in that stadium, so we're excited to go play and win the game for this 2017 team". OR takes over with 5:50 left to play.

Seven true freshman played for the Ducks last week in their win over Southern Utah.

"Our guys didn't fold when adversity came", Taggart said. The Ducks will take what's given, but are also committed to dictating.

"That song brings energy to anybody, it doesn't even matter", cornerback Arrion Springs said.

Said Nebraska defensive coordinator Bob Diaco: "We went in with an idea and it was just a sequential mess early in a lot of areas".

The Ducks' first-year coach described himself as a "jughead" for drawing an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and admitted that Texas A&M's epic collapse at UCLA last Sunday was on his mind during the second half.

"That's all coach Taggart". Royce Freeman was punishing defenders. "We don't want to be defined by the past". "Go out there and be loose for four quarters, no matter what the score is".

The Blackshirts forced a stop on Oregon's third series, and Lee settled the Huskers offense by leading a long scoring drive.

"He is a student of the game", OR coach Willie Taggart said.

Herbert struck again with an eight-yard pass to Charles Nelson to give UO a 14-0 lead just 3:29 into the first quarter.

Freeman enters with 48 career rushing touchdowns and needs four to tie former USC great LenDale White for third all-time in the Pac-12.

While Taggart is known for his positivity, it didn't keep him from assessing the Ducks' shortcomings on Monday following the win. Nebraska is likely the biggest challenge to Paul Chryst's team in the division.

"We feel like we have got a pretty good defense and we have to show it", Taggart said. The Ducks needed just five plays and 1:42 to get on the board first.

"I don't know if you could have a better atmosphere than our own home games, but I look forward to the challenge of going to OR, a great place for college football", said junior quarterback Tanner Lee, a transfer from Tulane who sat out last year's victory over the Ducks during a redshirt season.

The Huskers beat the Ducks 35-32 in Lincoln last season. The more highly touted passer they signed, Del City (Okla.) High dual-threat product Terry Wilson, actually flipped to OR from Nebraska.

"Their offense is different, defense is different". It's a little easier to go from practice against a 3-4 to a 4-3 team than going the other way.

"It's something I encourage". "I can't believe it".

Riley listed Autzen Stadium among the five "toughest environments I've coached in", a list that also included B.C. Place from his time in the Canadian Football League and the Superdome and Arrowhead Stadium in the NFL. The rest of the announced sellout crowd of 58,389 was thunderous in their appreciation of the Ducks, cheering and "Swag Surfin'" along with the OR sideline.
