IPhone 8 and 8 Plus on sale now, should you buy them?

Apple will launch the iPhone 8 and 8Plus in India on Friday at 6 pm - a week after the global launch - starting at Rs 64,000.

The new iPhones - iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone Plus, were launched at an event in India today.

Jio is also offering a 70 percent buyback offer alongwith the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus that will give you a rebate of Rs 44,800. For the first time Apple has brought the new iPhone to India within a week after going on sale in US.

As was expected, Apple has today announced iPhone 8 and 8 Plus in India.

Offers for customers under the iPhone 8-Jio partnership include a 70 percent buyback after 12 months on the iPhones bought with the Jio tariff plans.

Flipkart offers on iPhone 8 models incorporate trade markdown of up to Rs. 23,000 on the 64GB and 256GB stockpiling choices for the two cell phones.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will have to be pre-ordered from Jio's site, Jio Stores, and Reliance Digital outlets. But they never actually see any of that information in that case, either - they simply ask the phone whether the person using it is the owner, and receive a yes or no back.

The new Apple smartphones are available online on e-commerce platforms like Flipkart, Amazon, Jio.com, and offline stores such as Reliance Digital, Croma, Brightstar.

It also does not have support for HDR, which could be something fans will have to consider when they are trying to decide if they should wait for the iPhone X or not.

On an interesting note, Apple notes that Face ID could be a good incentive to use unique passwords, saying that it makes "longer, more complex passcode far more practical" because it doesn't have to be typed out that often. In other words, among those with an intent to buy an iPhone, the cheapest device from Apple's new lineup-the iPhone 8-was the least enticing. The 256GB storage variants of both iPhones are listed to get a maximum of Rs. 12,100 discount on exchange.

Amazon.in is giving an exchange offer of up to Rs12,000 but only with the likes of iPhone 6s.

Buyers also have the option of waiting another month for the iPhone X release. You'll have to pay Rs 99 now if you want to avail the latter deal. Customer will have to subscribe for Jio-iPhone plan worth Rs9,588 which will provide 3GB of 4G data every day for a year.

So far it looks like this swelling battery issue is limited to a few iPhone 8 Plus phones in Taiwan, and we don't know yet what caused the problem. Even then, the discount may not exceed Rs. 10,000.
