Chelsea looking to boost midfield with Leicester's Danny Drinkwater

Drinkwater is open to a move to Stamford Bridge and even handed in an official transfer request earlier this week to push through the deal. The move will certainly provide him with a lot more opportunities, while also giving him a chance to return to the coveted UEFA Champions League.

However, Sky Sports News reporter Aidan Magee has claimed that Chelsea and Leicester are a way apart on ther valuations of the player after Drinkwater handed in a transfer request on Monday.

The England worldwide has already been subject to failed bids by the reigning Premier League champions, but it is thought that a bid of £40m would clinch the deal.

Yet, with less than 24 hours of the transfer window remaining, Antonio Conte and Chelsea have been given a major boost in their attempts to sign the England global as the Mirror report that Leicester have agreed a deal to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Adrien Silva.

The youngster has publicly voiced his displeasure at the club, having made only nine Premier League starts last season, and is looking for guarantees of first-team football elsewhere. Once Kante exited the club though, the Englishman found himself short of support in that area.

Thus, a move for Drinkwater can strengthen Chelsea's midfield further with the player forging a proven and strong partnership at the heart of midfield in the past.

The 24-year-old is now discussing personal terms before undergoing a medical with the Reds.
