Wie qualifies for Solheim Cup roster

Inkster submitted an alternate's name when she named her two captain's picks on Sunday after the Women's British Open.

"It is hard to say "no" to someone who lives for the Solheim Cup, but she was in the process so knows the players we were talking about", said former world No 1 Sorenstam.

Solheim Cup Captain Juli Inkster was traveling back to the States at the time of Korda's post and was unavailable for comment and the LPGA had not made an announcement on a replacement.

"I would be upset, too". But in the end, I went with my gut and who I thought deserved a chance to play.

European captain Annika Sorenstam also preferred youth rather than familiarity with the Solheim's uniquely partisan atmosphere. This will be her fifth time playing for Team USA in the Solheim Cup.

Europe and the United States have confirmed their teams for the upcoming Solheim Cup in Iowa.

The 24-year-old flew home for treatment but announced on Twitter on Monday that she would not be fit to compete in the biennial contest. "But she has been strong and mature, and I am happy to have her on the team either way".

EUROPE: Carlota Ciganda, Jodi Ewart Shadoff, Georgia Hall, Charley Hull, Karine Icher, Florentyna Parker, Suzann Pettersen, Mel Reid, Anna Nordqvist (captain's pick), Caroline Masson (captain's pick), Emily Kristine Pedersen (captain's pick), Madelene Sagstrom (captain's pick).
