"It's an honour to perform this for my dad and Chester, and to sing for them", she shared. Friends have pushed back against unfounded speculation that Cornell's death directly inspired Bennington's.

As Toni Cornell and Tedder began to sing "Hallelujah", a camera panned over the crowd to show fans holding up their own tributes to Chris Cornell and Bennington.

The song is particularly meaningful because it's the one that Bennington himself performed at Cornell's funeral in May, so the fact that Toni was able to get through it is a testament to her strength.

Toni Cornell and OneRepublic performed "Hallelujah" on ABC's "Good Morning America", while OneRepublic also dedicated the performance of its new song, "Rich Love", to Bennington.

Bennington's death is being investigated as a suicide, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office. "It's a very special song to us and I think to most people, and especially to Toni as well".

On July 20, Chester Bennington was found dead by hanging in his L.A. home. You were always there for me. Watch the performance here. Chester's band mates have since set up a website featuring the band's singer and they have included information about suicide prevention and places where people in the same mind as Chester could go to seek help.

In May 2017, just months before Bennington's death, the band's final album "One More Light" was released, featuring a new pop-oriented sound and a guest turn from Kiiara.
