Rocket League for Nintendo Switch will have Metroid and Mario Cars

Rocket League - everyone's favorite soccer abomination where players are replaced with rocket-powered cars - is coming to the Nintendo Switch around the holidays this year and its bringing awesome-looking Mario, Luigi, and Samus-themed cars with it. Delivering on that promise, the developer showed off the upcoming cars for the first time today with a new trailer, seen above. Dubbed the Mario NSR and Luigi NSR, players on Orange Team will have Mario and those on Blue Team will be Luigi. If you're on the orange team you can use the Mario NSR and Samus' Gunship, and if you're on the blue team you can use Luigi NSR and a Samus colour variation of her Varia Suit.

It was already guaranteed that I'd be buying Rocket League on Switch, but I guess Nintendo wanted to make sure. The second exclusive Battle-Car is Samus' Gunship based on the protagonist of the beloved Metroid franchise. The Samus vehicle will also have different colors depending on which team you are on, styled after different Varia suits.

Look for more information on our Nintendo Switch release as we get closer to launch!

Unlockable for free when the game launches, you'll be able to duke it out in a Mario NSR, a Luigi NSR and a vehicle styled after Samus' Gunship from the Metroid games.

Both Switch exclusive cars will be free to all Rocket League owners on the platform, however, just as the other platform exclusive Battle-Cars, players will need to meet some requirements to unlock them.
