German woman dies from injuries 10 days after Barcelona attack

A large portion of a million people partook in a brilliant peace challenge in Barcelona on Saturday after Spain's Catalonia district was hit with two dread assaults that killed 16 individuals.

They were followed by King Felipe VI - the first Spanish monarch to join a march since the monarchy was re-established in the 1970s - the prime minister, Mariano Rajoy, the Catalan president, Carles Puigdemont, and the Barcelona mayor, Ada Colau, among other prominent political leaders.

After Friday's ceremony in the Spanish capital, the director of the Islamic Cultural Center, Sami El Mushtawi, insisted that Islam is a peaceful religion and apologized for the acts of a few Muslims. "Peace is equal for all", one protester told CNN Espanol.

Marchers handed roses to the police and paramedics to thank them for their response to the attacks, and some adorned their vehicles with the flowers.

"People occasionally confuse the faithful of a religion with a person who becomes psychotic with the idea of killing people, but it is a mistake very dangerous", said a protester Portuguese 18 years of age, Ana Francisca Ramos, a student of medicine came as a tourist to Barcelona. On its Twitter account, police posted photos of the walk and stated: "Today there is just a single message and it is the dismissal of fear based oppression. Respect all cultures and let's say #Imnotafraid #NoTincPor".

Police believe an earlier explosion at a house in Alcanar, 200 kilometres from Barcelona, was also linked to the attacks. Abouyaaqoub was killed amid a police operation on Monday.

ISIS claimed responsibility for the attacks.

"We share the same grief and the (need) for an understanding of what happened, " said Hafida Oukabir, whose younger brother Moussa was shot dead by police in Cambrils and whose elder brother Driss is under custody facing terrorism charges.
