Malyalam actor Dileep denied bail in actress' abduction, assault case

Earlier, in its application, the prosecution sought police custody of the actor for three more days saying it was necessary for carrying out the investigation in the case, as per PTI. Dileep has been charged for criminal conspiracy in the abduction and assault of the actress and also destruction of evidence in the case. He'd also claimed on Saturday that it was because of the charges against Dileep that the court had rejected the plea and that it wasn't on the merit of the evidence in the case.

The actor has been sent to a sub-jail in Aluva post the hearing.

The actor, however, can challenge the court's order in the same court or higher courts including the Kerela High Court.

Though police have cracked open a mobile phone of Dileep, the clip was yet to be found, say reports coming from Malayalam media. Special Prosecutor A Sureshan has said the prosecution has nothing to hide.

He will have to remain in police custody till July 25.

But now, the police have filed a petition asking the court to give them permission to crack open his phone. "I was asked about Suni", said Mukesh.

Following Dileep's arrest, there has been a polarisation of opinions regarding the actor.

Dileep was arrested on Monday night, and on Tuesday he was remanded to 14 days judicial custody. Police arrested Pulsar Suni, the actress' former driver, who committed the dastardly act on the actress, on February 23.

Dileep seems to have personal grudges against the actress and hence planned this abduction.

The actress was molested in a moving vehicle in Kochi by Suni, on February 17. Suni and his accomplices were arrested a week after the incident. Available on Android and IOS.
