Everton scout says Toffees on the verge of major £20million signing

A scout for Everton has spoken to the media to claim Everton have finalised a £20million deal with Arsenal for the signature of Olivier Giroud.

With his blistering pace, he would inject a much needed level of urgency into Everton's attacking play, and his ability to operate anywhere along the front-line would surely be an attractive prospect to Koeman, as opposed to Giroud's very much one-dimensional offerings.

Arsenal are finalising a club-record deal of up to £43.3 million for Lyons' Alexandre Lacazette, which would limit Giroud's prospects of a regular starting role.

"Marseille believe they are in pole position to sign France striker Olivier Giroud from Arsenal".

And while Sanchez's future remains uncertain Giroud now looks to be heading off.

Ronald Koeman's side are looking to recruit new strikers as they prepare for the departure of Romelu Lukaku, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea.

Everton and West Ham are interested and could make moves this week. Despite relatively good stats, Giroud has never been a consistent goalscorer, prone to long barren spells which cost the club any realistic chance of Premier League glory.

The 30-year-old will enter the 2017-18 campaign off the back of another strong season for Arsene Wenger's men having scored 12 goals and provided three in league action.

Giroud does not sound so sure, however, and told Arsenal's official website that he still has some unfinished business with the club. "It's something important, but there is something that I consider to be even more vital, namely that people see me as a faithful fighter, that they see that I'm always doing my best for the team".
