Dimitri Payet branded a 'flawed individual' by West Ham co-owner David Sullivan

The Mexico worldwide signed for the Hammers on Monday in a £16m deal from Bayer Leverkusen.

Their shrewd transfer business hasn't gone un-noticed at rival clubs, with Man United manager Jose Mourinho recently saying: "It looks like they are playing to win the Premier League, too".

"I am very happy to join West Ham United".

Their manager, Bilic, was under serious pressure after a awful start to the season and with their star player from the previous campaign, Dimitri Payet, leaving the club to go back to Marseille in January, matters were only made worse.

Former United favourite Hernandez has just signed for West Ham for a very reasonable fee of £16 million, in the only deal this season that hasn't broken the world transfer record.

Moreover, he is now 29 and will come to the Premier League following a hard campaign with Leverkusen.

West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan has told talkSPORT he believes new striker Javier Hernandez could be one of the best players to have ever signed for the club.

The Mexican striker will offer some sought-after quality in the attack as well as bolster the numbers following the signing of Marko Arnautovic from Stoke City.

Payet enjoyed a sensational debut campaign for the Hammers after joining on a five-year deal from Marseille in June 2015, scoring nine times in the Premier League.

"After two years, we found out he might leave Leverkusen, so I contacted him and we didn't have to start from zero", Bilic said.

The Ivorian centre-back already sat out the 2-0 final win over Ajax and will now also miss the Uefa Super Cup clash with Real Madrid in Skopje in addition to United's Champions League group stage opener following a decision that Mourinho labelled as "very, very harsh". Now with West Ham in Rotenburg, Arnautovic isn't too far away from one of his former clubs. Overall, his time in Germany saw him score 28 goals in 54 league appearances.

But that's football. The one thing I can say is I am happy to be here and happy to play for West Ham.

How many Premier League goals will Hernandez score next season?

West Ham have since longed for a goal scorer and will hope Chicharito can do the job with Andy Caroll regularly injured and Sakho failing to impress.
