"It's a tempting invitation", Fabinho responded when asked what he would say in United approached him on Brazilian TV show Esporte Interativo.

Fabinho was linked with a switch to Old Trafford last summer but a move failed to materialise, although the Red Devils are thought to be interested in bringing the versatile midfielder to the club in the 2017 summer transfer window.

It is now claimed that the Portuguese tactician has begun mulling over the players who could replace Rooney as club captain, with a number of different players taking on the responsibility at different points last season. "I would first talk to my agent, Monaco too, to decide everything right, but it's a great club, sure enough, I would think well about it".

Fabinho has been speaking live on Brazilian television on Friday and the channel chose to do a Q+A session where fans sent in their questions for Fabinho to answer.

Fabinho is reported to be close to joining Man Utd for a transfer fee in the region of € 40 million.

Mourinho is looking to strengthen the core of his team at Old Trafford this summer as United prepares to compete for the Premier League title and in the Champions League next season.

Fabinho was one of the star performers in the Monaco side that won the league and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League last season.

Perhaps Fabinho is that guy, and this idea received a significant boost today with eye-catching remarks made by the 23-year-old Brazilian.
