NFL Draft: Bob McGinn tabs Kevin King as Packers' first-round pick

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Packers are signing Jahri Evans.

And it seems Packers coaches aren't happy that their GM, Ted Thompson, didn't do more to block Lang's move across the division.

Drafted in 2006, in the 4th round out of Bloomsburg, Evans has had two stints in New Orleans with the Saints.

Evans, a six-time Pro Bowl offensive linemen, was cut loose by the Saints during the 2016 offseason. He has started 16 regular-season games nine times in his career, including last season.

He is expected to take the starting guard spot that opened when T.J. Lang signed with the Lions. "He was looking for the right opportunity with the right team", Colton said. Awuzie was a second team All-Pac 12 pick each of the last two seasons for the Buffaloes.

Taking Watt would also mean passing on a number of cornerbacks, which McGinn tabbed as Green Bay's most pressing need. The Packers gave him just a $150,000 signing bonus to return on a one-year, $1.025 million deal this season.

"I don't know that we need a guy in the draft".

As of right now, Justin McCray, Patrick Lucas and Barclay are the only guards on the Packers' roster; a trio that Rodgers has recently spoken highly of.

No, Evans isn't a long-term answer, but he could potentially turn into a significant short-term one if he can elevate his level of play this season.

If Green Bay is ever going to reach the Super Bowl again with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, the defense must get better. Green Bay lost Lang, defensive back Micah Hyde, outside linebackers Julius Peppers and Datone Jones, running back Eddie Lacy, tight end Jared Cook, center J.C. Tretter.
