High Wind Watch in Whatcom County

An unusually strong early April storm has already hit the southern OR coast and will track northward this morning and produce strong winds today throughout the Willamette Valley and in Portland. This will be the third rainfall event in the last week, and the ground is already saturated. Highs 71 to 76, lows 43 to 50.

Rain may start falling as soon as overnight along the coast and in the valleys.

Some minor flooding is expected on Friday along the Swatara Creek at Harper's Tavern in Lebanon County, forecasters said. The 2017 total stayed at 8.4 inches, 2.9 inches above normal.

Temperatures will warm from the upper 60s and low 70s at daybreak into the mid to upper 80s by midday. West wind 8 to 14 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

Along with a return to rainy weather Thursday night, slumber might be interrupted by the lashing of high winds in Sacramento. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Elsewhere on the Des Plaines River, a Flood Advisory continues at Riverside until Saturday afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Friday night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Wednesday night, mostly cloudy, with a low around 44.

Monday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 74. Partly cloudy, with a low around 30.

UPDATE 9 AM, 4/6: There is one more band of showers and storms near west of Roanoke, moving east as cells along it move north-northeast.

Sunday night: Clear, with a low around 53.
