USA ambassador to United Nations calls DRC government 'corrupt'

"We don't have a greater friend than Israel", she added. There are places we can cut. "So that's why we're taking each one".

The U.S. has long opposed efforts by the P.A.to upgrade its status at the world body and affiliated agencies, and U.S. law withholds federal funding from any United Nations body that admits it as a full member. The U.S. now funds around 22 percent of the U.N.'s overall regular budget. Haley added that she's "working to change the culture" at the Security Council, which she compared to that of the SC legislature: Both, she said, are clubs and have rules and cultures that need to change.

So what we have said is we're going to watch them like a hawk. When she needs us, we will be there. The U.N., she said, will be "an effective tool on behalf of our values". While human rights are usually discussed at the U.N. Human Rights Council, Haley claimed that group "is so corrupt" and said she intends to "essentially put them on notice" when she addresses the body in June.

As governor of South Carolina, Haley signed the first anti-BDS legislation to be made into law in any state capitol in America.

She also says "we can reduce the troops tremendously" in the peacekeeping mission there.

"I wear high heels, it's not for a fashion statement, it's because if I see something wrong I will kick it every single time".

"We actually have to punish the government for not allowing us to bring in aid", Haley said. "This is unacceptable." Meanwhile, the peacekeeping missions in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the Central African Republic (CAR) should be ended, she said.

Adding to the tensions was the announcement this week that villagers had discovered the bodies of two United Nations investigators and their Congolese interpreter who went missing this month in Kasai Central province, an area engulfed in a violent uprising.

Haley says the U.N.is "aiding a government that is inflicting predatory behavior against its own people".

Recalling the resolution, Haley vowed such an incident "will never happen again".

If you challenge us, be prepared for what you're challenging us for, because we will respond. Haley is credited with playing a key role in convincing Secretary General Antonio Guterres to withdraw a report authored by a longtime critic of Israel that accused it of apartheid.

"So many dollars and man hours were spent to produce a false and defamatory report", said Haley.
