New Star Trek Discovery Actors Announced

Filming on showrunners Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts' Star Trek: Discovery is now in full swing and some new cast members have been announced.

Pancholy will portray Dr. Nambue, the chief medical officer of the Starship Shenzhou.

CBS All Access' Trek series is off to a rocky start - there's still no premiere date set, after several delays and a showrunner change - but the cast is shaping up nicely.

Serpico will play the role of Admiral Anderson, an official of the Star Fleet. Vartholomeos is a junior officer also assigned to Starship Shenzhou. Pancholy's credits include "30 Rock" and 'Weeds'. The drama will introduce new characters seeking new worlds and civilizations while exploring the dramatic contemporary themes that have been a signature of the franchise since its inception in 1966. The series will feature a new ship, new characters and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers. Other cast members include James Frain, Michelle Yeoh, Anthony Rapp and Doug Jones. All episodes will be available through the CBS All Access streaming service and through Netflix in certain countries. It's produced by CBS Television Studios, Alex Kurtzman's Secret Hideout, Bryan Fuller's Living Dead Guy Productions and Roddenberry Entertainment.

The ranks of Starfleet are expanding in Star Trek: Discovery.
