Ohio State will be back in action next Saturday at Ohio Stadium against Tulsa for a 3:30pm (EDT) kickoff. He didn't start Saturday against Bowling Green but was listed as a backup on the depth chart. Curtis Samuel added 84 yards rushing for the Buckeyes.

Earlier this week Meyer said he was looking for a 50-50 split between running the ball and passing.

For at least one game, Barrett seemed to have regained his mojo and returned to his 2014 form, as the Buckeyes rolled past the Bowling Green Falcons 77-10 in the season opener for both teams in Columbus.

Ohio State lost a ton of talent to the National Football League draft, but many believe this year's team under Urban Meyer has the makings of another classic Buckeye squad.

One of the most important units on the team will be in the kicking game where punter Cameron Johnston returns, (considered one of the best in the country) along with placekickers Tyler Durbin and Sean Nuernberger. "Today we got to see what guys can do", he said.

Meyer started the day anxious about how his many inexperienced players would perform on the big stage. The Buckeyes offense went for a school-record, 776 yards in the win.

Eight players scored touchdowns on offense as the Buckeyes (1-0) overpowered the Falcons in front of a crowd of 107,193 at sunny Ohio Stadium. The drive efficiency metrics - red zone and overall drive efficiency - are just for non-garbage time, or when J.T. was pulled with roughly 6:30 left in the third quarter.

Redshirt freshman Mike Weber held his own rushing for 136 yards on 19 carries, but simply having Samuel - or even senior H-back Dontre Wilson - in the backfield taking snaps next to Barrett or straight from the center provides new challenges for defenses that Meyer and Co. didn't present past year. Curtis Samuel ran for two touchdowns and caught a scoring pass. "That's why we have to get better every week and play our best ball at the end of the season". Even with three new starters, the Buckeyes held last year's 8th-most explosive offense in IsoPPP+ without an explosive pass.

J.T. Barrett was 14 of 21 for 244 yards and four touchdowns.

"It's hard to take positives from a butt-whooping like that", Jinks said.

"I'm not sure how good we are, but the attitudes are good".

". That's the worst part of this darned game is when a guy gets hurt, especially a guy who has committed so much to this team and the program".

At The Ohio State University expectations are always high, even when a team is quite young and inexperienced at certain positions. Bowling Green failed to cover in the match as a -4.5-point favorite, while 85 combined points moved the game OVER for totals bettors. In receiving, Gehrig Dieter (1,033 yards and 10 TDs in 94 receptions) and Ronnie Moore (1,033 yards and six TDs in 72 catches) will return as the primary receivers of the Falcons.

On the defense, Ohio State football yielded 15.1 points and 311.3 yards, 184.5 in passing and 126.8 in rushing previous year. The Buckeyes' 417 passing yards rank fourth-most in a single game in school history.

Weber believes this Ohio State offense has the potential to continue to build on what it showed Saturday.
