Pelosi bombarded with 'obscene and sick' calls, texts after cyber attack

"I have received scores of mostly obscene and sick calls, voicemails and text messages", Pelosi wrote in a letter to party members.

Pelosi said she is changing her phone number and advised her colleagues to do the same. Pelosi is advising fellow Democrats to change their cellphone numbers and not let family members read their text messages after personal and official information of Democratic House members and congressional staff was posted online.

The hacker said the us presidential elections "are becoming a farce", citing the earlier breach of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) which revealed that lawmakers may have been partial to Hillary Clinton in the primaries, and, according to Guccifer, shows that "everything is being settled behind the scenes". She said she was on a flight to from Florida to California when the information was released, and received the unwanted messages upon landing.

John Ramsey, the House's chief information security officer, sent a memo to lawmakers and aides whose information had been made public urging them to change passwords for all their accounts and to consider changing their non-House email addresses. Capitol Police and the House sergeant-at-arms are checking into finding out just how vulnerable this hack leaves them.

Experts can't now verify the identity of Guccifer 2.0, but the name is a reference to a Romanian hacker known as Guccifer who hacked politicians including George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush.

Guccifer 2 tweeted on Saturday that the "major trove" of DCCC files would be supplied to Wikileaks; the post was then re-tweeted over 1,000 times. Home addresses and spouses' names were also included in the information that was hacked.

The personal information that was leaked was part of a massive computer-content dump on Friday. Obama, who noted that outside experts have blamed Russia for the leak, suggested Russian President Vladimir Putin may have reason to facilitate the attack. But Democrat Hillary Clinton's campaign has, implying that the goal was to benefit Donald Trump's presidential campaign.

This comes after other hackings and leaks from the Democratic Party, including the Democratic National Committee (DNC), which resulted in the resignation of senior Democratic Party officials including the Chair, Rep.

Friday's was the latest release of information from cyber-attacks - including those by groups with purported ties to Russian Federation - against Democratic organizations as the 2016 elections heat up.
