Melania Trump speech similar to Michelle Obama's from 2008

Two passages of her address matched almost word-for-word the speech that Michelle Obama delivered in 2008 at the Democratic National Convention.

She generated a lot of buzz with her well-received speech and, later, a controversy over some of her remarks.

"It would not be a Trump contest without excitement and drama", she said, eliciting the biggest laugh of the speech from the audience. "Let's all come together in a national campaign like no other".

"With all of my heart, I know that he will make a great and lasting difference", she said.

"His achievements speak for themselves, and his performance throughout the primary campaign proved that he knows how to win", she said.

Melania concluded her speech by saying her husband has always been an wonderful leader and "now he will go to work for you" - something she hopefully did not copy from Michelle Obama.

Trump, she said, "is tough when he has to be, but hes also kind and fair and caring". "That includes Christians and Jews and Muslims, it includes Hispanics and African Americans and Asians, and the poor and the middle class", she said. That's partly a function of our polarised time and her husband's troubles.

And in the wider world, the deadly ambush of police officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge, La., another terrorism attack in France and a failed coup in Turkey set a grim backdrop that underscored the high stakes of the presidential election - one that already has left many voters dismayed by the country's direction and dissatisfied with their choices in the November election. "There will be good times and hard times and unexpected turns". On occasion, she introduces him.

The convention didn't seem to hit its stride until former NY mayor Rudy Giuliani delivered a vigorous and extended defense of Trump and his policies, speaking just before the Trumps. Donald Trump must hope that Day 2 hews a little closer to the script.

Ms Trump spoke to a cheering crowd at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland after a one-minute introduction from her husband.

Gates is denying he oversaw the Melania speech process.

Melania had worked with a speechwriter for the last five to six weeks to hone her speech, reported CNN.

The potential first lady Melania Trump's speech at the Republican National Convention was really powerful - and slightly familiar. The narrative was decided that Melania had plagiarized, and the only question was who was to blame and how the campaign would handle it. She can't be fired. Their appearances are an attempt to humanise the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.

Melania Trump has been visible from the beginning of the Trump campaign, riding down the escalator of Trump Tower in a pristine white dress ahead of her husband's announcement. The Trumps' adult children have often been more prominent.

With a rock-star entrance, Trump changed the tone and introduced his wife, Melania. "It's basically three places in the speech, and it's fragments of words", he said. And that speech clocked in at a mere ninety seconds.

"My husband is ready to lead this great nation".

"On July 28, 2006, I was very proud to become citizen of the United States".

"When they come to save your life, they don't ask if you're black or white, they just come to save you", he said of law enforcement officers.

But as she demurs from the spotlight, she is taking a strong behind-the-scenes role. "I wouldn't. Would you?" he said. "So here's my best pollster". He calls me. I call him. He's an adult. He knows the consequences.

After a brief biographical detour into Melania's childhood in Slovenia-"a small, beautiful, then Communist country"-and a reflection on learning to work hard from her father and appreciate fashion from her mother, she returned to familiar Trump territory: he loves America, he works hard, and he will work hard for America". She'd be the first first lady who was a supermodel. Shortly before the birth, Mrs. Trump was photographed for Vogue magazine in the gold bikini next to her husband's private jet. "To think that she'd be cribbing Michelle Obama's words is insane".
