Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney: "It's a big season for us"

Cantona, who is known as "The King" by United fans, recently told Ibrahimovic: "There can only be one King in Manchester".

Intriguingly, it's stated that Mourinho may look to sell four first-team players in order to bring four players in - and the report names four players who could be set for the chopping block.

And 30-year-old Rooney acknowledges that puts extra pressure on him.

"Always you feel like you've got to prove yourself each season an it's a joy to play for them, so of course there's pressure, there's pressure to be successful".

Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the French duo of Morgan Schneiderlin and Anthony Martial have been given time to recover from their exertions at Euro 2016.

"I'm excited. It's a big season for us". I think it's going to be a big season for us.

Whites manager Slavisa Jokanovic is looking to strengthen his forward options ahead of his first full campaign at Craven Cottage.

"The signings we've made have been fantastic".

Rooney, along with England colleagues Chris Smalling and Marcus Rashford, only had one training session with Mourinho before jetting out to China on Tuesday.

Manchester United have a clear run at Paul Pogba and, as The Independent understands, will bid £100m for the Juventus midfielder imminently.

Under Mourinho's predecessor Louis van Gaal, Wilson featured twice at the start of the 2015-16 season, as a substitute in a league defeat to rivals Arsenal and a starter in a league cup defeat with Middlesborough.

Although it's unclear how long the deal will be for or how much he will earn at this stage, it's an indication of Jose Mourinho's commitment to the young players at the club.

Managing director Richard Arnold was the senior executive on the trip, which includes games against Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City.

United get their campaign under way at Bournemouth on August 14, by which point Rooney's role within Mourinho's new-look team should have become clearer.

The Juventus player once left Old Trafford on a free transfer, but United have been rumoured to put huge cash on the table to lure the France worldwide back to England.
