Bundesliga Club Slap In Offer For Newcastle United Midfielder

Chelsea and Liverpool are preparing to battle for the signature of Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko, according to reports in France.

The midfielder has been a star in Newcastle's team since joining the club from Toulouse in 2013, but with the Magpies being relegated from the Premier League last season, Sissoko is keen to leave Tyneside this summer.

Hamburg had a disappointing campaign in the Bundesliga a year ago after finishing 10 that could make the move less appetising for Sissoko.

The club in question is reported to be SV Hamburg, with L'Equipe saying that the Bundesliga club is the first to come in with a concrete offer for the Newcastle midfielder.

It effectively means Liverpool need to lodge a bid of at least £13 million to win the race for Sissoko, although L'Equipe's report indicated Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez "has absolutely no intention of selling" the France global.

However, Newcastle is likely to look to the English market this summer, to acquire players with the necessary commitment and Championship experience to succeed during the long, gruelling second tier season they face next term.

Hamburg is reportedly interested in signing Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.

It is thought that Sissoko's preferred choice of club would be Arsenal, who have expressed a strong interest in him and would be able to offer him Champions League football.
