"She was surrounded by nothing but love from her immediate family and closest friends".

Angela Raiola, better known as "Big Ang" on VH1's reality series "Mob Wives", continues to battle cancer in the hospital despite media reports that suggest she died on Wednesday.

"At 3:01 a.m., Angela Raiola peacefully ended her battle with cancer", Vinnie Medugno posted on Raiola's Twitter account.

They added: "She truly went our richer than any monetary value could ever amount to". She wasn't technically a mob wife: Raiola's inclusion on the cable show's second season in 2012 came courtesy of her uncle, the late Salvatore "Sally Dogs" Lombardi, a reputed captain of the Genovese crime family.

On Wednesday, rumors swelled that Raiola was near death. "[Angela Raiola] is in the hospital and was very recently read her last rites this evening", a source divulged to Mr. Real Housewife.

"The news that has been reported is totally inaccurate", the statement said. "I am here with the entire family and all her friends and they ask for your continued support and prayers".

She also discussed the fact that she had been a cigarette smoker for 40 years, which her doctors had cited as "positively" the cause of her illness.

For the past five years, Ang has been the face of VH1's "Mob Wives". On an interview with Dr. Oz that aired this past Tuesday, Big Ang herself further announced that the immunotherapy treatment she began after chemotherapy failed had a 30 percent success rate, and that she would keep fighting regardless. "First, I thought I was cancer-free and I was gonna have a big celebration, have a party, and then, a month later, I [had] stage IV [cancer]".

However, she was later diagnosed with stage IV lung and brain cancer.

After gaining celebrity on "Mob Wives", Raiola got her own spinoff series, "Big Ang" and "Miami Monkey".
